Spring 2024 Serena Collection

Serena, our sportweight baby alpaca-pima cotton yarn, is a yarn destined for soft, close-to-the skin garments and accessories. The yarn is amazingly versatile at the range of gauges it can accomplish, from a compact and opaque fabric to a loose, gauzy one. Delight in the four garments of our Serena Capsule Collection, each of which highlights a different gauge and style.

//

Capri is knit back-and-forth from hem to shoulder. The back has extra stitches, which are gathered into 4 box pleats to form a back yoke. This also gives the piece a swingy, A-line silhouette. Raw edges and minimal finishing add to the casual feel.

Tapestry needle

GAUGE
20 sts and 26½ rows = 4”/10 cm in St st after blocking and hanging (see Notes).

NOTES
The back and front are worked separately, back and forth in rows, and then seamed together during finishing. The neck, armhole, and lower edges are deliberately left unfinished, and the neck and lower edges will roll gently to the RS.

The finished sizes are twice the front width at the underarms. The back is wider than the front, and its extra width is removed by four pleats worked across the upper back, above the armhole shaping.

This luxurious, versatile blend of alpaca and cotton may require extra care when swatching to achieve the best results. Make a generous swatch, about 6” to 8” square. Wash the swatch according to the label instructions and lay flat to dry. Using clothespins or clips, hang the dried swatch overnight, and then check the gauge again.
