The pattern for this hood was first published in a Parisian fashion magazine called La Mode Illustree, in 1861. The pattern was translated into English, using modern knitting terms, in a booklet produced by Polly Steenhagen and Silvana Siddali, as a fund-raising effort for storm-damaged historic sites in New Orleans. The booklet is available at Ragged Soldier.
