So often, my knitting patterns are inspired by individual people in my life; for example, Caroline. She’s a delightful teenager who makes frequent visits to our house.

These mitts are worked in the round from the bottom up. You’ll start with ribbing worked in one needle size smaller than the body, to make the cuffs snug around your head and wrists. There are both charts and written instructions for the pattern stitch, a knit and purl combination that results in a beautiful texture. The yarn shown is Cascade Ecological Wool, 100% Peruvian Highland wool which has been minimally processed and undyed. Also shown is Cascade Eco + in the colorway Sapphire.

The pattern uses about 160 yds/ 146 m.

Needles: U.S. size 8 and 9 (5 mm and 5.5 mm) double-pointed needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge: 18 sts = 4” (10 cm) in pattern

Notions: yarn needle, stitch markers

Finished Measurements: Size Small: 7“ (18 cm) circumference, 8.5” (22 cm) long, from bottom of mitt to top of the mitt. Size Medium: 7.5”(19 cm)circumference, 9”(23 cm) long. Size Large: 9” (23 cm) circumference, 10.5” (27 cm) long.
