Pattern shows handspun Shetland spun at two differing weights, one for the shell and one for the lining. Hat is knit from a provisional cast on edge up to the top of the shell and then picked up at the cast on and knit with the sport weight yarn to make the lining. The patterned shell is longer than the lining by several inches so that the hat can be worn with a folded-up rim that is not the lining showing, but the matching shell.
