Designed for the Malabrigo Quickies pattern program, the unisex Carrasco Mitts use knits, purls, and slipped stitches to create a simple texture that works with both the muted tonal and signature variegated hues of Malabrigo Yarn’s sportweight Arroyo yarn. The pattern extends all the way around the mitts, and an optional button detail creates additional interest (leave the buttons off to make the mitts interchangeable).

Carrasco is an upscale barrio in Montevideo, Uruguay, the home of Malabrigo Yarn. In a touch of serendipity, I discovered after choosing the name that the mitts’ stitch pattern is highly reminiscent of the historic Hotel Carrasco’s façade.

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Malabrigo Yarn Arroyo — 100% superwash Merino — 335 yds (306 m) per 100 g. Shown in colorways Piedras (on man, size M) and Diana (on woman, size S). Unisex sizes S (M, L, XL) use approximately 160 (200, 240, 280) yds / 146 (183, 219, 256) m of yarn.

Sizing:
All sizes are 9.25” (23.5 cm) in length: Small — 5.75” (14.5 cm) around, to fit hand circumference of 6 - 7” (15 - 18 cm). Medium — 6.5” (16.5 cm) around, to fit hand circumference of 7 - 8” (18 - 20.5 cm). Large — 7.25” (18.5 cm) around, to fit hand circumference of 8 - 9” (20.5 - 23 cm). PLEASE NOTE: Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of patterning, and amount of yarn used. To meet these dimensions, be sure to use needle size that gives gauge.

Other Materials:
Two thin stitch markers, one (optional) stitch marker for beginning of round, waste yarn, tapestry needle, four buttons (1/2 - 5/8” or 12 - 16 mm), sewing thread.
