When I first came across this beautiful grey Donegal Tweed yarn, I immediately thought of the grey lichen covered dry stone walls of the Burren in Co. Clare. Those walls are strong and masculine, but when you see the sun shining through, they are lacy and feminine.

I wanted to capture that contradiction in a design that would show off the beauty of the yarn and the idea of a masculine garment that would also have an element of lace about it was born.

The scarf uses 200g Studio Donegal Aran Tweed and is knitted on 12mm needles to reveal the structure of the stitch which I am calling Burren Stitch
