Notes:

  • The Fisherman’s Wool is dear to our hearts, bein’ nautical, but working this in a softer wool makes the increases look even softer and more like rope.
  • Two out of three knitters agree that bein’ a bold buccaneer and goin’ without a cable needle makes it faster and better. The third knitter might be a lily-livered swabbie.
  • To make this cap for all your manly pirate needs, increase the circumference by adding spacer rows between the bends, and knit a wee bit longer before startin’ the cap.

Our most swashbuckling thanks to Carole, who suggested it, and Lisa the Riveter, who tested it.
