In my other life, I am a personal trainer, and I am obviously concerned with helping folks choose healthier meals and steer them towards better-for-you snacks. Here is something you can indulge in, without worry, you’ll wear it on your hips later. Wrap your shoulders in this soft lace shawl, full of fiber, but virtually calorie and therefore guilt free.
Carrot Cake works up into a treat you won’t want to miss. And you don’t have to, it’s all trainer approved!

Materials:

Yarn: Malabrigo Lace, 2 skeins, 850-880 yds (780-800 meters)

Shown in ‘Glazed Carrot’

Needles:
US Size 4 (3.75 mm) circular needles, 32” length or longer or appropriate size for your lace yarn of choice
Cable needle or 1 small double point needle

Gauge:
25 st = 4” over stockinette, after serious blocking
18 st and 22 rows= 3.25” wide x 2 ½” tall over 1 rep of center panel chart (changes in gauge will change yardage required)

Notions:
4 stitch markers, plus additional markers, if desired

Finished Size:
Approx. 70” wingspan (175 cm), 30” center back (75 cm). Measured relaxed after blocking.

Skills needed:

  • Intermediate to advanced Lace knitting, reading charts, various versions of directional increases and decreases (such as s2kp, sk2p, k3tg, p3tg, skp, k2tg, etc) yarn overs, slipped stitches. This is not a beginner level pattern!

  • There are several specialty stitches that were created just for this pattern, with detailed explanations and links to video tutorials

  • Most of the pattern is plain purl rows on the wrong side, but there are 2 rows that are ‘true lace’ where a simple pattern is worked on the wrong side as well.

All our patterns have been carefully tested and edited
