The Cascading Cables Knitted Beanie Pattern

This is a fully tested pattern and includes a step by step photo tutorial and even links to multiple videos I created. You will receive a PDF of the pattern, and your download should begin as soon as your payment is processed. This is not a listing for the completed hat! If you are looking for the complete hat, you can order at this link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/494757075

This pattern can be used to make a hat with just about any yarn, in any size! The cables weave in and out creating a beautiful cascading pattern. This is a great hat for everyone in the family - boys, girls, babies, grandparents, whoever you need to check off your gift list! You will learn plenty of new techniques with this pattern and feel confident to make knitted cables. I’ve included videos showing the long tail cast-on method, working with a magic loop, and all of the different cabling techniques.

• Written in US terminology
• Sizes available: This pattern is written as a guide to help you make a hat in any size.
• Yarn: This pattern is written so that you can use any yarn weight; however I have found worsted works the best in most cases. If you are using another yarn weight you will want to make some adjustments, which I have noted in the pattern.
• Yardage: Approximately 120 yards of worsted weight will make an adult size hat. Your yardage will depend on the size you are making as well as your yarn weight. I would recommend buying a little extra just to be sure you have enough yarn (never a bad idea!).
• Gauge: It is helpful to use a gauge swatch as recommended above. Your gauge will vary and this pattern is written to work with your own gauge rather than trying to match mine. You will switch to larger needles for the cabled section to accommodate for the cabled stitches having less stretch.
• Needles: Use one size down from the recommended needle on your yarn band to create the ribbing and then one size up for the rest of the hat. You can either use long circular needles with magic loop or use DPN’s. Either method works fine. I use Knit Picks nickel plated needles in both interchangeable and fixed circular and I love them.
• Other materials: stitch marker, cable needle, tapestry needle to weave in ends
• Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced

• Stitches (st./st.’s) used: knit (K), purl (P), cable 4 front (C4F), cable 4 back (C4B), 2 knit 1 purl cable front (2/1 PCF), 2 knit 1 purl cable back (2/1 PCB), knit 2 together (k2tog)., slip stitch (sl. st.), pass slip stitch over (PSSO), slip 1 purl 1 pass slip stitch over (SPPO), Cable needle will be abbreviated as CN.

• The hat is worked in rounds from the bottom up.
• When asterisks appear in the pattern, repeat everything between the asterisks as many times as instructed.
• I have included videos for the first several rows to help with the cables. I did not film videos after the first rows as they repeat. If you are having trouble with the pattern please email me at carrievpray !at gmail.com - I’ll be happy to help you!
