Cassaluna Scarf

Inspired by hand-dyed yarns and the vibe of an ice cream parlour awning!

The Cassaluna Scarf is worked from one end to the other – starting with increases, finishing with decreases. It alternates smooth stockinette sections with a fun two-color pattern that’s worked using only one yarn at a time. Slipped stitches, yarn overs, and decreases create the lively motif.

I used Pru Yarns Soul: 1 skein of Firecracker and 1 of Pink Oats – a high-contrast combo perfect for showing off hand-dyed yarns. Whether you go for a bold speckle and a solid or choose two soft tones, the scarf thrives on contrast.

Construction
This scarf begins with just 3 stitches and with C1 as main color and C2 as contrast color. During the stockinette sections, you increase 1 stitch on every right-side row. The design alternates between stockinette sections and the thorn pattern, which is worked in two colors. Don’t worry – you only knit with one strand at a time, never both simultaneously! When you reach the middle of the scarf, the colors switch: C1 becomes contrast color, and C2 becomes main color. From this point onward, decreases are worked in place of the previous increases, gradually tapering the scarf back down.

Gauge
27 sts and 34 rows per 10cm / 4”, worked flat in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
Changes in gauge, while not crucial for the fit of the project, will result in size differences and affect the amount of yarn needed to complete the project.

Cassaluna Scarf
Ein Hauch von Eiscreme-Markise und ein Design wie gemacht für Festivalstimmung!

Der Cassaluna Scarf wird von einem Ende zum anderen gestrickt: Zuerst mit Zunahmen, später mit Abnahmen – ganz ohne komplizierte Techniken. Zwischen einfarbig glatt rechts gestrickten Abschnitten sorgt ein dekoratives zweifarbiges Muster für Abwechslung. Dabei wird immer nur mit einem Faden gearbeitet, mithilfe von abgehobenen Maschen, Umschlägen und Zusammenstricken.

Ich habe Pru Yarns Soul verwendet, 1 Strang Firecracker und 1 Strang Pink Oats – ein Duo mit starkem Kontrast.
Ob wild gemustert und uni oder lieber zwei sanfte Töne: Der Schal lebt von Kontrasten.

Der Name Cassaluna ist vom mittelalterlichen Namen der Stadt Kassel abgeleitet – eine kleine Hommage an das Festival, das diesen Schal möglich gemacht hat.

Konstruktion
Dieser Schal beginnt mit nur 3 Maschen – gestrickt wird zunächst mit Farbe C1 als Hauptfarbe und Farbe C2 als Kontrastfarbe. In den glatt rechten Abschnitten wird in jeder Hinreihe 1 Masche zugenommen. Das Design wechselt sich ab zwischen glatt rechten Partien und dem Dornmuster, das zweifarbig gestrickt wird. Keine Sorge – du strickst dabei immer nur mit einem Faden, nie mit beiden zusammen!
In der Mitte des Schals tauschen die Farben die Rollen: C1 wird zur Kontrastfarbe, C2 zur Hauptfarbe. Ab diesem Punkt erfolgen Abnahmen anstelle der bisherigen Zunahmen, sodass der Schal allmählich wieder schmaler wird.

Das Muster wurde mit Nadelstärke 3.0mm gestrickt auf einer 60cm Rundstricknadel.

Maschenprobe
27 Maschen und 34 Reihen per 10cm, in Reihen in glatt rechts, nach dem Spannen. Weicht deine Maschenprobe von der oben genannten ab, hat dies Einfluss auf die Grösse des Tuches und dem angegebenen Wollverbrauch.
