This crescent shape shawl begins with a stockinette stitch tab cast on (like garter tab but using stockinette stitch in place of garter stitch). The design alternates lace sections with texture sections separated by garter stitch. It ends with a lace scallop border. It is appropriate for an adverturous beginning knitter.

This design was commissioned by my LYS, Castaway Yarns as a “Grand Opening ” shawl. The owner asked for a crescent shape with interesting but easy stitch patterns and a scallop border. We settled on fingering weight, 400-500 yd skein and selected Cascade Yarns, Heritage Silk Peruvian Tone for the shop sample.

If you happen to be driving through Columbia Missouri on I-70, look for her shop on the outer road at exit 126. It will be easy to find and worth the stop!
