The Castor Workhorse Socks are solid, reliable and just what you need for warm feet every day of the week. They are knitted from the top down and you can customise the length of the cuff, leg and foot to suit the foot of the fortunate wearer.

The pattern is written for people who are new to knitting socks and it is a great first sock pattern. There is plenty of advice and extra information to help you through the process.

The Castor socks have a heel flap and gusset and a wedge toe. This type of heel will suit most feet. It is great for people with high and moderate to low insteps but not the best choice for people with very flat feet.

You can comfortably knit a pair of these socks from one skein of standard sock yarn.
