I was asked to recreate a cat hand puppet that Engel was given when he was tiny. Its an adorable toy, and pattern, but there’s a lot of sewing involved if I was to follow it truthfully. So here’s an in-the-round, as little sewing as possible, version of his childhood cat puppet! (Mine is the more grey/brown cat, the original is the ginger cat)

To make this you’ll need:

-Less than 50g of main colour (chunky wool)
-Small amount of black thread for mouth and eyes
-Small amount of pink thread for nose and paws
-Small amount of contrast colour for eyes
-Small amount of white for whiskers

I’ve given this pattern as one size, and using my gauge managed to replicate the size of the original hand puppet. (Personally I’d have it longer and thinner to suit my hands, but Engel likes it squat and fat) If you want it longer, add more rows, shorter, take some out, if you want it wider, add a few stitches, thinner, remove some. All the numbers are fairly simple and the pattern isn’t complex, so it should be easy to tweak!
