You can use any yarn to make this toy, just make sure to use correct hook size with your yarn.
You will need following or similar materials to crochet cats as on the picture:

Cat in yellow dress:

• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 71 (coffee) – 35 g;
• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 67 (yellow) – 40 g;
• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 1 (white) – 5 g;
• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 36 (pink) – 5 g;
• crochet hooks of appropriate size, I used 2,5 mm hook;
• stuffing material;
• sewing threads of matching colors to sew eyes and pieces;
• 6 mm beads for eyes - 2 pcs;

Cat in minty dress:

• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 72 (graphitic) – 35 g;
• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 79 (minty) – 40 g;
• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 1 (white) – 15 g;
• yarn YarnArt Jeans color № 36 (pink) – 5 g;
• crochet hooks of appropriate size, I used 2,5 mm hook;
• stuffing material;
• sewing threads of matching colors to sew eyes and pieces;
• 6 mm beads for eyes - 2 pcs;

The following stitches are used:
Single crochet, double crochet, increase/decrease stitches. Purl and knit stitches

The following methods are used:
Crocheting in rounds and turns, starting with a magic ring, making a chain.
