The Catboat Cardigan is having a little fun with tradition, mixing a little of the traditional Gansey with modern sports wear. The tweedy Green Mountain Spinnery Alpaca Elegance pairs perfectly with some leather buttons but it has already occurred to me that I want to do this all season, everyday, sweater again with the Spinnery’s Cotton Comfort.

This is a fitted cardigan with sewn set-in sleeves and is knit from the bottom up. Mirrored 2-over-2 cables begin in the edging and are worked through to the collar where the cable adds a just enough stability to keep the collar standing though this will depend on the choice of yarn (think wool and cotton or blends there of). The shoulder faux raglans, are worked in garter stitch to match the edging, front bands and collar.
