Wuthering Heights … the title alone evokes romance, mystery, tragedy. All the elements of a great gothic romance! This was one of my favorite romances growing up, so I was delighted to design a shawlette for the Wuthering Heights kit for Woolgirl’s Romantics Club.

The Cathy Shawlette is lacy, flowing, elegant, rustic … exactly what I imagine Cathy wearing as she ran across the moors with Heathcliff as a young girl. Rather than the traditional triangle shawl, Cathy has two long, lacy arms and a wide, square base, giving a little more coverage against the moor’s - or your city’s - chilly fog. Wear as a shawl across your shoulders or pull the edge up over your head as a hood, winding the arms around your neck. Perfect.

Cathy is intentionally worked on larger knitting needles, allowing assertive blocking for an exaggerated garter stitch body and to really open the lace stitch pattern.

Cathy was originally available exclusively through Woolgirl, but was then available through Phydeaux Designs.
