Cedar Shake
This pattern was first available in the book Juju’s Loops!
Cedar Shakes have it all - lace, twisted stitches and ribbing. It stretches and contracts beautifully to give a well-fitted fingerless mitten with wrist-narrowing appeal while the wavy lines work to elongate the arm.
It looks best in subtle semi-solid, hand-paint yarns such as luxurious madelinetosh Pashmina or Handmaiden Casbah.
Yarn:
Handmaiden Casbah: 81% superwash merino, 10%
nylon, 9% cashmere, 115g = 325m/355 yd, 1 skein
Colour shown: Topaz and Minegold
or
madelinetosh Pashmina: 75% superwash wool, 15%
silk and 10% cashmere, 100g = 329m/360yd, 1 skein
Colour shown: Celadon
Any sportweight yarn should work; look for one in a
solid or semi-solid colour with a little sheen from silk
or very tightly twisted wool.
Gauge: 10cm/4in = 26sts in stocking stitch
Needles: 3mm/US 3 dpns or 100cm/40in circular needle if using ‘magic loop’ technique
Notions: stitch markers, scrap yarn, darning needle
