My hometown and capital of Norway hosted the 2011 Nordic World Ski Championships, and my boyfriend wanted a special hat to wear while attending the big ski-jump competition.

The hat itself is a very basic design and an easy knit. The colors and stripes can be changed in numerous ways. To make this a special hat, I decided on using the Norwegian flag as an inspiration.

Any yarn/needle combo resulting in the appropriate gauge may be substituted.

My hat used 50 grams of yarn in red, white and blue.

Men seem to like this basic, no frills hat. Please note that this hat is not tightly knit against the wind, nor do have extra ear coverage against the cold - but it is well suited to wear under hoods!

Errata: Knit 13 cm before starting the decreases!
