Row 30 and Row 48 in the Cable Chart have errors. Be sure not to get confused by these when you get to front side rows 29 and 47 (I find the wrong side rows easier to read in the cable charts, so I always look that the chart by the row pairs). Also, the instruction

Note that the cable chart is applied differently for the three sizes. The size medium cable layout appealed to me much more than size small.

The pattern suggests US 9 to obtain gauge. I needed US 6. It’s hard to assess guage, since it’s given over the cable chart, which is complex. I largely used experience combined with a stockinette swatch. Ultimately I used US 5 to so that I could make the size medium to approximately the size small dimensions. Some super bulky yarns won’t work well with more stitches per inch, so using a bulky or worsted weight can also be considered.
