The traditional English Christmas carol The Holly and the Ivy Inspired Ron Schweitzer’s Fair Isle design. “Of all the trees that are in the wood, the holly wears the crown,” goes the song, and so deep holly green crowns the wintery tree pattern of this generously sized stocking.

Pattern calls for double knitting weight yarn: approximately 130 yd each deepest green and warm gray heather; 85 yd each dark green, teal green, medium dark green, sage green, very light pink heather, and warm sheel heather; 5-10 yd each red, white, light grayish blue heather, light violet heather.
