Inspired by the traditional celtic knot, and worked in stranded fairisle style motifs, this is a luxurious and generous-sized gansey.

The Celtic knot is an ancient motif, frequently found on the carved stone crosses of the lands of the celtic peoples. Such crosses are especially common in Ireland and Scotland.

Until the rise of the Roman empire a large part of Europe was dominated by celtic peoples, and the knotwork, spirals and key patterns are said to have been influenced by various non-Celtic cultures.
