Slanted stripes in slipped stitches seem to swirl around the hand of these mittens and showcase variegated yarns at their best. An eye-catching feature is the thumb gusset, which emerges from one of the knit stripes between two ‘chains’ and also wanders into the direction of the slant.

The pattern has written instructions only. There are different instructions for left and right mitten. However, the term left and right refers to the direction in which the chains slant only. Because of the way the thumb gusset is created and how the decreases are worked at the top, the mittens can be worn on either hand.
