This afghan is very thick and warm with large double cables traveling up. The cables remind me of chains from a ship’s anchor. It is knitted holding double strands of bulky yarn together. The double cable is worked over 9 stitches, the seed stitch border is worked over 9 stitches with the seed stitch columns worked over 7 stitches. The pattern is very versatile, as you could make the seed stitch areas wider or narrower and / or your cables wider or narrower if they are a multiply of 3.

Also, by adding a multiply of 16 stitches to the cast on, it can be wider or use a lighter weight yarn if preferred.

I hope you enjoy making this afghan, I have now made it three times for gifts, and it’s always well received.
