The Chalice Cowl is the first pattern in my Fall 2011 Earth Collection, which also includes the Faraway Blues Wrap and Long Way Home Cardigan. It is an over-sized cowl that can be made with or without buttons and worn as a traditional cowl or as a cowl/cape hybrid over the shoulders. It is an excellent transitional piece for early spring.

Lace instructions are both written and charted. The pattern has been professionally tech edited to reduce the possibility for error, but if you have questions or believe that you have found an error, please contact me.

If you are interested in being notified when the rest of the fall collection is released, please PM me with your non-ravelry e-mail address, and I will add you to my e-mail list. E-mails from me will be infrequent, and I will not share your address with anyone.

finished measurements
35 ¼ (40 , 44 ¾)” / 89.5 (101.5, 113.5) cm circumference.
11 ½ (13 ¼, 15)” / 29 (33.5, 38) cm high.

ease
Fit is oversized. The lace will stretch substantially to accommodate wear over the shoulders, but keep your shoulder circumference in mind when determining which size to make if you intend to wear it that way. For larger sizes worn over the shoulder, change to a needle one to two sizes smaller halfway through the cowl to draw the fabric in at the neck edge.

yarn
4 (4, 5) skeins Quince and Co. Lark in “Twig”; 134 yds / 123 m per 50 g; 100 % american wool.

Cowl requires 420 (540, 670) yds / 380 (490, 610) m of worsted weight yarn.
