Finished garment measure 45 cm (18 inch) across back at underarm. Length-wise Chambord is 52cm / 20 inches from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of waistband.

I did design it so that it that the ties would cross over below the waistband, making it appear a little longer, but as I am pregnant at the moment I am currently wrapping and tying it above my bump.

Chambord is a kimono inspired cardigan worked in two main pieces – cast on at the sleeve hem and worked in one piece with short rows across the front and then back and forth on half the stitches to centre back. These two pieces are then sewn, grafted or three needle castoff together. The collar is worked by knitting up stitches along on sid front, picking up stitches along the neck and then knitting up the remaining stitches along the other side front. The garment is finished with a knit on, long obi-inspired waistband that wraps around the body twice.

Due to the large numbers of stitches you will probably find it convenient to use circular needles. Please note that the garment is worked back and forth in rows and not in rounds.

To complete the collar you will need to keep two lots of 107 stitches. You can either place these stitches on some waste yarn, or if you have an interchangeable knitting needle set, a spare cable or two will come in handy. In a pinch, a spare circular needle a size or two smaller will do the trick if you can tie some rubber bands around the ends to stop the stitches falling off the needle.
