Charlie’s hat is a copy of a hat worn by Charlie in the show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Watch the Christmas special while you knit this fair isle hat!

Notes:

  • It’s best to use smooth, even yarns so the stranded color work becomes the star of the show. I used wool for an extra warm winter hat, but choosing a washable fiber could make this hat a great gift!

  • There are some long floats in the fair isle section of this hat. I suggest wrapping the floating yarn when floats are longer than 5 stitches as in this instructional video.

  • You may be tempted to use a provisional cast on to aid with the hemming, but that will make a smooth join instead of a folded or rolled look. If you don’t like picking up stitches, adding a purled round after the first knit round will give you easy purl bumps to pick up later.

Happy knitting!
