This pattern creates a warm slouchy beanie using worsted weight yarn and a size J crochet hook. Simple stitches create the raised chain stripes that spiral around the hat. A wooden tag or two decorative buttons are sewn on the tab of the beanie’s brim. Lion Brand Heartland works well for this hat, but any soft, light, worsted weight yarn will work.

The finished slouchy beanie will measure approximately 9.5 inches from the top of the hat to the edge. The hat should fit a head circumference between 19” and 23”.

Materials:
Size J - 6mm Crochet Hook
Worsted weight (size 4) yarn, one skein
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
1” long wooden tag or two ½” buttons

There is also a non-slouchy version of this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chasing-chains-be...
