Are you up for a colorwork challenge?

This adorable, huggable, large plush elephant toy is a unique checker-patterned fellow. His arms, legs, and ears alternate in checker style too! He is full of great detail like little nostrils and a long curved trunk.

Any yarn will do! With medium weight yarn, the finished object will vary between 10-14in tall depending on hook size and gauge.

This pattern is entirely done in single crochet and slip stitches but I would not recommend it for a beginner. Careful counting and carrying yarn at all times is required. It has sections worked in the round, some worked in rows, and some are a bit freestyle.

The elephant is a symbol of strength, protection and good luck. This chubby, lovable elephant would make a great shower gift for a baby or a get well present for a loved one!

The checkered color pair can be subtle or wild, either way, he is full of personality!
