Knight to E-4!

This fancy little game board will keep you occupied for hours. Each piece is made individually to be reminiscent of old chess boards in both shape and size. The pieces measure approximately 2.5-4 inches tall and stand on their own on a modular knit board.

Each piece will take you through new techniques and strategies, from increasing and decreasing, to creating welts and attaching I-cord, wrapping it up with a join-as-you-go board that is bordered by eyelets so you can pull a drawstring and your pieces are all stored in one nifty place.

Not for the faint hearted, this pattern may take some time, but the end result will be a stunning family heirloom.

Additional Notes:
1) The test knitters for this project had some interesting ideas for helping the pieces remain upright. The design of the pattern keeps them up, but included in the pattern are methods for reinforcing the rigidness.
2) The pattern calls for approximately 600 yards in two separate colors.
3) I have knit individual pieces from worsted weight yarn for interesting projects, so if tiny needles scare you, go ahead and try thicker yarn!
