Sizes: 1 (2, 3)
Finished circumference: 18 (19, 20) cm / 7 (7½, 8)”
Finished length: 24 (25, 27) cm / 9½ (10, 10½)”

Yarn: The Border Mill Alpaca Tweed (heavy worsted weight; 100% alpaca; 170 m / 186 yds per 100 g skein)
A: Distressed Oatmeal; 1 (1, 1) skein
B: Night Sky; 1 (1, 1) skein

Note: 1 skein of each colour will be sufficient to make both the Chester Basin mittens and hat. Please note that due to the way the Alpaca Tweed yarn is produced, in small batches by The Border Mill, weights of the skeins and yardage do vary.

Gauge: 24 sts & 58 rows = 10 cm / 4” over Corn on the Cob Pattern on 5 mm needles after blocking
Note: The high row count is due to the slip stitch pattern.

Needles: 4 mm / US 6 DPNs or circular
needle, 80 cm / 32” length for magic loop
5 mm / US 8 DPNs or circular needle, 80 cm /
32” length for magic loop
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Notions: 3 stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle

Notes: Whilst the mittens use the same stitch pattern as the Chester Basin Hat, the gauge is tighter to produce a denser fabric more suited to warm mittens.
