‘Cheviot’ - Classic adult knee length sock with a turn back cuff in mixed ribs

Worked on straight needles from the top down this is a great basic ribbed sock that can be easily adapted for individual leg and foot lengths. Jo x

Knitting ability: Intermediate

Skills required: Flat knitting, basic shaping, picking up of stitches, grafting or casting off techniques

You will need:
One pair each of 2.75 mm (US 2) & 3.25mm (US 3) straight needles
Stitch holders
Tapestry needle for sewing up
Yarn approx. 175g- 4ply (sport) weight = 665m/727yds

Materials:
We went all out and stretched the budget with 100% Scottish cashmere that’s been plied up to 4ply.
However if Cashmere is too rich for you and you are on a budget try Drops Baby Alpaca Silk, 50g =167m/182yds = 4 balls

Size
This pattern has been worked to fit an average adult female foot UK 6-8, however it can be very easily adjusted to any foot or leg length our model is wearing a UK size 6

Tension:
In stocking stitch using 3.25 mm (US 3) needles: 21 sts x 32.5 rows 10 x 10cm (4 x 4 in) – adjust your needle size to match this tension.
