Free Top Down Lace hat with a loop trick

Lace knitting never goes without holes. Here’s an idea to uses these holes creatively: by pulling loops through them, while you are knitting. That’s how this hat is knitted. It looks quite complicated, but it is simple and fun to do.

This loop-trick is an open invitation to play around with color combinations. Keep it quiet by using ton-sur-ton. Flash out with bright and contrasting colors. Or create a festive look by using separate colors for each loopy round.

This hat is knit top down. For the brim up version, see Guirlande.
