Pattern description from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts: “The yarn used for this sweater is Koigu Wool Design’s Kersti merino crepe, a lesser-known yarn from the amazing Koigu hand-dyed collection. I think this DK weight yarn is great for projects for babies and young children because it does not itch at all, nor does it shed fibers, and it knits up more quickly than Koigu’s thinner yarns. The label recommends working it on size 6 needles at a gauge of 22 stitches and 30 rows to 4 inches, but I personally prefer to knit it a bit more loosely. The looser gauge seems to give a softer, loftier feel to the final piece.”

Finished Measurements: To fit 0-6 months (6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-4 years, 4-6 years, 6-8 years, 8-10 years). Chest: 18.5 (21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28)” (47 53.5, 58.5, 63.5, 66, 68.5, 71 cm). Length from lower edge to base of neckband: 8.5 (10, 115, 13, 14.5, 16, 19)” (21.5 25.5, 29, 33, 37, 40.5, 48.5 cm)

Yarn: Koigu Kersti (100% merino wool crepe; 114 yards 104 meters / 50 grams): #K2370 gold 3 (3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7) skeins.

Needles: One 24” (60-cm) circular needle size US 7 (4.5 mm). Set of five double-pointed needles size US 7 (4.5 mm). Change needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn needle, scissors, four stitch markers (one in contrasting color), stitch holders, three beads or buttons approximately 1/4” (6 mm) in diameter.
