CHINESE FANS is a large, soft, enveloping, elegant waterfall cardigan/wrap; just glorious to drape around your body. LIGHT MOONSHINE (or any of our soft and luxurious DK yarns) can be used to create this garment. A moss-stitch border provides simplicity to the elaborate pattern motif and the beads* add glamour and charm.

When designing I always think of ease for the knitter - so CHINESE FANS is knitted in one piece. I have spoken to many knitters and scores of you have said that finishing a garment professionally is one of the most frustrating (and time-consuming) aspects of knitting. This garment is worked sideways; cast-on, work left panel to arm-hole, around the back to the second arm-hole, then back around to finish working on the right panel and then cast-off. Sew-in two strands of yarn at the beginning and end. Done.

YOU WILL NEED
7 x 100g LIGHT MOONSHINE (225m/100g, 70% alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere)
4mm circular needle (100cm, work forwards and backwards), cable needle, sewing-up needle
Optional - 170 beads (4 x 10gram packet of size 6 gunmetal round seed-beads from Beads Direct)

GAUGE: 20sts to 10cm over stocking stitch using 4mm needles

SIZE: 12-24 (UK size), width 205cm (cast-on to cast-off), length 140cm

PATTERN NOTE
Beads are placed at beginning and end of fans on following rows: 9, 11, 13, 15 and 25, 27, 29, 31

C7B: cable to back - slip next 4sts onto cable needle, hold at back of work, k3, then k4 from cable needle
k?togtbl: insert right-hand needle from right to left through back of next ? sts on left-hand needle and k sts together

k?tog: k ? sts together to create one st
skpo: slip a st, k a st, pass slipped st over k st just worked
yo: yarn over, starting at front of work pass yarn over right-hand needle from back to front anti-clockwise before working the next st. On next row work ‘yo’ as a st.

Cast on sts for sleeves: twist working yarn into loop and slip onto right needle. Alternatively, use the long-tail cast-on method, using a piece of waste yarn and sew-in end before continuing to work.
