from the book:

“These coffee sleeves are a perfect blank canvas for any type of nerdiness you can think up! They’re knit from the top down on double-pointed needles, and the slip-stitch sections not only create a little extra thickness for grip and insulation for hot drinks, they also allow for colorwork that looks like fair isle knitting but is much easier to execute.

The instructions here begin with the master pattern for the coffee sleeve. In the section that follows you’ll find the details for the three sleeve themes shown in the photo. Or you can adapt the pattern for any color schemes and themes you like.

Once the sleeve is knitted, add geek-tastic embellishments by any means and media - embroidery, appliqué, buttons, or beads. The sleeves shown here have embroidery (the Trivial Pursuit pie) and felt appliqué (the Dr. Mario sleeve).“
