The Christmas bags are knitted with double threads. You can use other yarns than those specified in the pattern. Adjust the needles according to the yarn thickness. It is recommended to knit a swatch to check your gauge. Glitter thread is used in the pattern, but this is optional. Make sure to choose a thin glitter thread that does not affect the gauge. Twists are added in the patterns to avoid long floats. This is because the threads on the back can catch on items placed in the bag. The placement of the twists is designed to show as little as possible on the front. You can choose whether or not to use twists.

Cast on
The cast-on for the bags is a double cast-on, where the stitches are distributed on two needles. Check out www.ergadesign.no/tutorials for a video tutorial on double cast-on. For this cast-on, you need a long circular needle, possibly magic loop. When the work is elastic enough, switch to a smaller circular needle. With the double cast-on, you avoid sewing the bottom and get a neat edge so the work does not fold inwards at the bottom. If you do not want to use double cast-on, you can cast on normally and knit in the round. The bottom is sewn together at the end.
