This cheerful hat, a holiday spin-off of Eowyn’s Happy Hat, combines several techniques, including stranded knitting, and is written for four sizes: toddler, child, and adult small and large. Great for using up small quantities of leftovers, it can incorporate a variety of yarns for added texture. Corkscrew hat toppers use a basic crochet technique, with other options also included for finishing the top. Christmas trees may be embellished with beads. Written technique instructions are included for making bobbles and crocheting the corkscrew hat toppers. Charts are clear and color-coded, so they are easy to follow, even for knitters not familiar with chart reading. The pattern comes in two versions, a short version with the basic pattern and an extended one, with three extra pages of bonus designs; knitters can choose to download either or both for the same price.

Size Circumference
Toddler (80 sts) 13-14” (32-35 cm)
Child (96 sts) 16” (40 cm)
Adult small (112 sts) 18” (44 cm)
Adult large (128 sts) 20” (49 cm)

Yardage varies significantly depending on the yarn and size chosen--see pattern for more detailed info on yarn requirements.

Notions: sliding stitch markers; coilless pin or locking st marker; tapestry needle.

For adding beads, recommend size 6 beads (about 20 g total, depending on colors and designs used) and size 7-9 (1.25-1.0 mm) crochet hook or needle and thread.
