This pattern is for an advent calendar wall hanging, featuring a Christmas lights design.

The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.

You will need:
Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used King Cole Cherished DK weight yarn (equivalent to weight 3, light worsted) and my finished advent calendar measures approximately 50cm wide and 32cm long.

You will need the following colours / quantities:
Main Background colour - I used pale grey (shade ‘nickel’) (approx. 335m).

Pocket colours - You will add 24 pockets in 6 different colours (that’s 4 pockets in each colour). I used the following colours:

  • Pale green (shade ‘mint’) (approx. 25m).
  • Pale pink (shade ‘powder pink’) (approx. 25m).
  • Pale yellow (shade ‘lemon’) (approx. 25m).
  • Pale purple (shade ‘lavender’) (approx. 25m).
  • Pale blue (shade ‘stonewash’) (approx. 25m).
  • Pale turquoise (shade ‘sea breeze’) (approx. 25m).

Light colours - You will add 24 lights in 6 different colours (that’s 4 lights in each colour). Each light also has a dark grey cap added to it. I used the following colours:

  • Green (shade ‘laurel’) (approx. 7m).
  • Pink (shade ‘pink’) (approx. 7m).
  • Yellow (shade ‘sunshine’) (approx. 7m).
  • Purple (shade ‘larkspur’) (approx. 7m).
  • Blue (shade ‘sky’) (approx. 7m).
  • Turquoise (shade ‘peacock’) (approx. 7m).
  • Dark grey caps (shade ‘grey’) (approx. 19m).

Please Note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
  • A small amount of white yarn or thread for embroidering the highlight onto each light bulb.
  • A long length of dark grey yarn or thread for embroidering the curved line between all of the light bulbs.
  • Numbers to add to each of the pockets (& thread to do so) - I attached 20mm x 15mm wooden buttons (sourced from ’Totally Buttons’) to each pocket, but the numbers can be embroidered if preferred.
  • 2 lengths of dowel & length of string for hanging your calendar. I used 2 lengths of dowel that were 1/4 inch thick x 50cm long.
  • Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
Thank you.
