Christmas Polar Bear
This festive knitted bear would make a perfect Christmas gift, if you can “bear” to part with him! The polar bear has a Santa Claus outfit, with trousers and a hooded jacket.
This listing is for the knitting pattern for you to make your own polar bear, with red jacket and trousers.
To make your toys you need to know how to knit, purl, cast on, cast off, increases, decreases, picking up stitches, knitting stripes, kitchener stitch and sewing seams. The pattern is 17 pages and includes row by row instructions so you don’t forget your place. Full instructions for construction including photos are included in the pattern. If you are not sure how to pick up stitches or use kitchener stitch, instructions are included so that you can make the Santa jacket without using this technique.
All pieces are knitted flat on 4 mm straight needles.
To knit the polar bear you will need approximately 80g of cream worsted weight wool and some toy stuffing, and the Santa costume uses 50g of red wool, and less than 20g each of white and black wool.
As a guide to the size, the finished bear measures 25cm high.
Polar Bear is designed to fit into the outfits that are provided with my puppy, bunny and bear patterns, so you can dress your toys in different outfits if you wish.
