This pattern, the Christmastide cowl, is especially for making during the quiet days after Advent: the days between of late December and early January.

This pattern:

  • Makes a gently shaped cowl, knit in the round
  • Uses 6 mini-skeins (or one full skein + one mini)
  • Is divided into 12 steps (one for each day)
  • Has entertaining color and stitch changes in each step
  • Is perfect for using mini-skeins you might have received in a yarn calendar!
  • Has charts and fully written out instructions
  • Features my easy to follow, easy-print format

With just an hour or two of knitting each evening during
the old Elizabethan 12 days of Christmastide, by Epiphany on January 6, you’ll have a beautiful accessory for yourself and the deep satisfaction of knowing you slowed down and made early winter as it should be: calm and cozy.

Size: 16.5 in inches tall and 21 inches circumference at the top and 28 inches circumference at the bottom.

Skills needed: Straightforward to knit with simple lace, stripes and texture, Christmastide is well within the skill range for a beginner and entertaining enough for intermediate knitters. You will need to be able to:

  • knit and purl
  • increase and decrease stitches
  • read a chart or follow written directions

The pattern is both written and charted, and it has been tech-edited.
