This chunky cowl and matching slouchy beanie are made with a double strand of worsted weight yarn and a large crochet hook (Size N – 9mm). The large hook makes this a quick project and the shell stitch gives it a lacy look. The stitches used are chain, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet. The cowl is worked flat and sewn together and the beanie is worked in the round. 5 buttons add a decorative touch to the cowl. The yarn used in this project is Caron Simply Soft.

Measurements:
The beanie measures about 9”from the edge to the top of the hat and the cowl is 27” around and 12” wide.

Materials:
Caron Simply Soft – 2 skeins (crocheted with two strands held together)
Crochet Hook: Size N – 9mm
Yarn needle for weaving in ends and sewing on buttons
Five 7/8” or 1” buttons
