Join the fiesta as we knit-along these festive socks! The banner ribbing, chevrons, and bold colors are reminded me of the twirling dresses and large sombreros seen at Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The pattern is Intermediate, with increases and decreases throughout. Three unique design elements are in play; The garter stitch ribbed cuff plays perfectly into the classic chevron lace, and finally, a garter stitch heel flap and V-turn finish it off. They are knit from the top down, in a 12-stitch repeat. It can be adjusted for different sizes by increasing or decreasing 12 stitches at a time, or more easily by adjusting the needles size to suit. The leg length is 6-8”, which can also be adjusted to suit individual preference by adjusting the number of pattern repeats.

Materials:

• Any bright, bold, self-patterning sock yarn, one 100g skein (380-440 yds), Fingering weight.
• Set of 5, US size 2/2.75mm double pointed needles) or one long circular needle for Magic Loop.
• Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:
K = Knit
P = Purl
K2tog = Knit two stitches together
SSK = Slip two stitches, knit them together through the back loop
YO = Yarn Over, move the yarn from front to back over the needle to increase one stitch
S1 = Slip one stitch knitwise
PSSO = Pass slipped stitch over the previous stitch
