Hearts & diamonds & lace plus a soft wool equals a lovely cowl. The borders are garter and eyelets; the center diamonds are stranded, as are the hearts. The very simple hearts.

You will need three skeins of Nature Spun Sport weight wool, in three colors. The model used only about half a skein of the two main colors, and less than 20 yards of the third. A circular needle is recommended.

This cowl’s length is adjustable--just add, or subtract, in multiples of 6 stitches. It is worked in the round, by casting on the length desired, and working upward for the width.

A SUGGESTION from a knitting buddy: She said the pattern would flow better if the colors were designated A, B, and C, with A and B being the main light and dark colors, respectively. Color C should be in high contrast to the others. So feel free to mark the color “Stone” as A, “Ash” as B, and “Scarlet” as C.
