Using deceptively simple construction, this vest is easy to knit and takes advantage of the stretchiness of ribbing to provide a flattering fit. Knit stitches on each side of the ribbing make a built in edge for the armhole. There are two versions: with ruffles (above) and without, depending on how fitted you wish the vest to be.

*The pattern includes twelve sizes and instructions for four weights of yarn (dk, worsted, aran, bulky)*

Part of the Summer 2010 Pattern Collection

You can also buy the just the aran weight version of the circle vest or bulky weight circle vest.

Circle Vest FAQ- For here for answers to common questions (like what does shoulder measurement mean?).

Due to the large number of sizes, please see the chart for yardage requirements for your favorite weight of yarn! Please note that the yardage requirements is VERY generous so people can make the ruffle version.

Pattern includes large full size pictures and instructions for each size in all of the yarn weights- that pattern is 12 pages! Don’t let that scare you though, it is just due to all the pictures and sizes available!

-Circular needles sized as per chart.
-A tapestry needle to weave in ends
-Optional: buttons, snaps, pin, or brooch to close vest
-scrap yarn for provisional cast on and for trying on vest

Increase knitwise- pick up loop between stitches with left needle, knit in to back of loop.
Increase purlwise- up loop between stitches with left needle, purl in to back of loop.

(1 inch is about 2.5 cm)
Take the time to check your gauge.
Dk- 6.5 stitches/inch
Worsted- 6 stitches/inch
Aran- 5 stitches/inch
Bulky-3 stitches/inch

The yardage measurements are generous so you can knit the ruffle version or add additional rows if you are more busty. If you wish to knit the plain version you will need about 20%-30% less yarn.

For best fit measure across your back from shoulder to shoulder and use back measurement to pick your size.

Sample 1 (plain, no ruffles, medium green)

Knit using 2 skeins of Cascade Eco+ in color 9448 for an aran weight vest in a 34” chest with 18 inch armholes.

This vest is more fitted since there are not ruffles at the edge and there are only a few bust increases.

Sample 2 (Dark Green)

Knit using 3 skeins Cascade 220 Heathers color 9447, knit very loosely then fulled to end up at a bulky weight (3 st/in) gauge. 32” chest with 16” armholes.

Less fitted than Sample 1, this one is great if you don’t want a super fitted vest or if you want more give at the bust and hips.
