I created this warm shrug because of inspiration from the cable series Outlander. I didn’t want a plain garter stitch shrug, however. I designed this shrug so that you can dress up or dress down, with a lacy pattern that still keeps you warm because of the super bulky weight yarn used. Although I use Malabrigo Rasta for this pattern (and I highly recommend it), you can use any other super bulky weight yarns to make this.

This pattern is designed to be made in many sizes. It is rectangle construction worked back and forth, then seamed for the sleeves. Please be sure to purchase an extra hank yarn if you decide to make the sleeves longer, or the body height longer. I had more than 1/2 a hank of Malabrigo Rasta yarn remaining after finishing. To make longer sleeves, increase the number of cast on stitches, and make sure it is an odd number (multiple of 2 sts plus 1). You will need a long enough size 17 circular needle to accommodate the 40” length or more of the rectangle.

In the pattern, I misspelled Malabrigo Rasta “Plomo” as “Pluomo”…sorry.
