Two colour mittens worked in worsted weight yarn. No carrying and no purling (after the rib that is!).

Worked in the round with a “thumb trick” thumb.

I have used just less than half a 100gr ball of each, which works out at approx 150 yds / 137 metres of each colour.

The “drop stitch and unravel” manoeuvre is explained with step-by-step pics in the pattern, it’s very simple and very interesting!

I would recommend this for an “adventurous beginner” looking for a quick project.

The “drop stitch and unravel” is only every 6th row, and since this is worked in the round you have plenty of knit-all, mindless knitting in this if you’re that way inclined.

Techniques used:

  • knitting on dpns
  • cast on
  • cast off
  • knit
  • purl for the ribbed border
  • k2 tog
  • “drop stitch” (explained in the pattern)
  • weaving ends
