INTRODUCTION
This is a year-long knitting project documenting the highest temperatures for your region in the form of a marled Wrap.
You will be recording the top temperature each day in your local region to log the area’s particular weather patterns and track the possible effects of climate change on seasonal temperatures.

The pattern is a simple DK Wrap in a rectangular construction using 2 yarns that are ‘marled’ together.
This is achieved by knitting a fingering weight/4 ply + lace mohair yarn together to give you a DK weight wrap.

It is knit straight throughout, knitting 2 rows of pattern in the temperature yarn colour for that day.

The first seven months have a different stitch pattern each month, from August onwards you will be repeating months May back to January in a reverse order.

You have the option of adding crystal beads to your Wrap to highlight special events in the year (birthdays/weddings etc), making it both a temperature and memory project.

You can also substitute the two yarns for a regular DK weight yarn. However, please be aware, if you’re thinking of adding 4mm crystal beads, the yarn will be too thick. You would have to use alternative beads with larger holes.

This will be a lovely mindful slow knitting project to keep you company for the whole year.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
4mm (US 6) needles.
Collapsible eye needle to add crystals/beads.
Optional progress keeper to mark the beginning of every month.

GAUGE
21 sts x 42 rows = 10cm/4” measured over trinity/double-moss/crocus pattern after blocking.

SIZE
Finished measurements:
60cm x 177cm / 24” x 70”

YARN
Fingering weight / 4-ply yarn of any type held together with lace weight mohair/silk yarn.
Because this is a temperature project, it is hard to predict how much of each colour you may need, it is totally dependant on the weather fluctuations for your region.
An estimate of total yarn amount would be 450 - 500 grams (4 -5 x 100g skeins).

CRYSTALS
4mm bicone crystal beads as required – see section on knitting with crystal beads.
