This pattern is a fast knit and fun because there is a variety of techniques to use. The instructions use common abbreviations and the techniques are not explained in detail, it is assumed that the knitter knows them. Therefore the proficiency level is intermediate.

The instructions tell the knitter to put the stitches on hold after finishing the brim and the hatband and knit the top separately, then join by kitchener stitch. You may feel it’s too much trouble however I tried knitting all in one piece and found that the brim was hampering my progress and slowing me down and I prefer to spend 30 minutes grafting rather than knitting slowly the entire upper part of the hat.
Your choice will depend on how familiar you are with grafting. If it’s a technique you don’t like nothing forces you to follow the instructions to the letter but the instructions tell the knitter how I did it after considering all the possible options. The hat could also be knit top-down and it’s up to the knitter to adapt the pattern.
