It seemed like everywhere I looked this winter, from Anthropologie to Target, there were sweater dresses. Unfortunately (or fortunately) none of these mass produced sweater dresses were quite was I was looking for – one was too short, the other too simple, and one more too frumpy. So as all ambitious knitters do in the situation, I decided to design my own. I have a love affair with cables; they seem the easiest way to make a garment elegant and feminine. I also wanted something that could be worn throughout the year and dressed up or down.

Please try this on as you are knitting! For one, not everyone has the hourglass shape that I thank my deity of choice for and may need to alter the number of decreases and increases. In addition, when something stretches horizontally, it shrinks vertically, so please don’t end up with a mini-dress because your length measurements were taken without it being stretched.The dress is designed to be worn snugly, thus it is knitted with approximately 6 inches of negative ease.

This is my first major design project (especially when adapting the pattern for other sizes), please let me know of any errors you find in the pattern or any problems you have. I will try to help you with anything ASAP.
