This garter stitch child’s jacket is designed to show off the beautiful color variations in Mountain Colors hand painted yarns. The large blocks of green, blue and orange main colors pick up the undertones of each other, highlighting the complex hues in each color way.

The Coat of Mountain Colors will grow with a child for several years.
The sleeves can be rolled back for wear as a long coat by a toddler, or let down for wear as a sweater by a young child.

This sweater is worked completely back and forth. The sweater begins with the back, which is knit as one large piece, with each block picked up and knit along the existing work.
Right and left front pieces are similarly picked up and knit onto the existing work. The sleeves are then added by picking up along the shoulders and knit down to the cuffs. Lastly, the collar is picked up and knit.

Finishing includes sewing up the underarm and side seams, and sewing on buttons.
